The Lakeman Family History

The Lakeman family originated in Devon and eventually migrated to Portsmouth, Hampshire.  Finding our particular Lakeman records from Devon has been difficult as the records are not easy to come by (many were destroyed), and the name of Lakeman is a very common one in the Devon area.    However, finding information on the Lakeman family and their descendents once they were in the Portsmouth area has been much easier.  Family history documents and newspaper archives have been able to fill in a picture of what this large family was like.
