Hamilton

 

The Hamilton branch of the family had its beginnings when Ernest Bishop, the son of Mary Ann Jerome and George Bishop, married Lydia Cains in 1893 at Portsmouth.  Their daughter, Eleanor Matilda Bishop, was born 3 March, 1897 in Surrey, England. 

 

Eleanor emigrated to Canada and on 19 June, 1923, she married Joseph Johnstone Hamilton at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.   The couple settled into married life in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.  They had two children; Beatrice Elizabeth who was born 23 February. 1924 at Lethbridge; and Ian Johnstone Hamilton, born in 1932 at Lethbridge.
